I'm just way to scared to go to mediation.

Perhaps you’re in dispute right now.

You’re thinking about your possible losses.

You’re thinking about the pain of conflict, and the pain of not being able to move forward.

But the thought of going face-to-face with your opponent maybe something that is really terrifying for you.

Most people hate conflict, and conflict is actually inevitable in every environment whether it’s family, workplace, neighbourhood, sporting club or anywhere where people gather together and communicate.

A Mediator can be a tremendous help to turn a conflict into a productive conversation. Many times a mediation can achieve an agreement in just one session of two or three hours. But if necessary a mediation may take two or even three sessions. No matter how scary it might seem to you to face your opponent, it’s the job of the mediator to create a safe environment.

Firstly, many mediations take place online these days so you don’t have to be in the same room as your opponent.

Secondly, The mediator meets with each of the parties individually before the joint session to guide them through the process to give them an understanding of how Mediation works. Participants are encouraged to speak respectfully and to listen to one another. These are things which normally don’t happen in a normal conversation when two people are getting upset with each other.

Thirdly, during a joint session the mediator can guide the conversation skilfully in such a way that the two parties can freely discuss their interests, the things that have been most difficult for them while the other party listens respectfully to what is being said. There can be some difficult moments, but most times, in fact about 80% of the time, two parties will reach an agreement and the future that follows for them is much better than what has happened to date. So, if you feel scared about going to mediation, have a talk to Mediator today. Don’t hesitate to ask for a FREE diagnostic consultation here.
